The Plot: Julia (Lei) has a thing about guys. She always seems to pick the ones that either have other…um…committments or that will say anything to get into her pants. It turns out that her latest boyfriend had a little of both qualities. Needless to say, she dumps him. John (Corvus) is just a guy in love with a girl who’s about to move out of the country for her job. They decide to end their relationship after one more night of really passionate sex. John goes home, but has a “Say Anything” moment and decides to go back to her house and tell her that he’s madly in love with her and that he’d be crazy to let her leave the country without him. Of course, this is when he finds out that she’s already over their relationship. She’s moved on in the form of a major gang-bang (which happens off-screen). John’s friend Raul convinces him that they best way to pick up and meet new women is to pretend he’s gay because women love gay men. His plan works, but a little too well. John meets Julia and falls in love. But how will Julia take it when she learns that her new gay friend is actually trying to score with her?

The Low-Down: Okay, full discolsure. Jane and I have been out of the porn reviewing “business” for a few months. I’ll save the details of why for another post, so here let me just say that some things have changed a bit since we’ve been at it. One major change was that Wicked decided to change to an all-online review process for its reviewers. We were given a login to the Wicked.com website where we can access all of the new Wicked releases as they come out and review them directly from the website. There’s only one little drawback to this from our standpoint. We’ve had to change the format of our reviews slightly for our site. No longer will we be reviewing the packaging and bonus material that is included on the discs. There may be some special releases where we are sent the discs to review all of the content, but for the most part, we are going to be reviewing online only.

And, let me tell you, this has opened up a whole new world to Jane and I. There is so much more content than I had ever imagined on their site! It’s definitely worth signing up for. If you are a fan of porn, Wicked has an amazing website. I’m going to do a more detailed review of the entire site in a separate post.

Now, back to the movie: This is a really cute movie. Yes, I just described a porn as “cute”. The story has the feel of one of the old John Hughes movies from the 80s-90s. I fully expected Xander to come out with a boombox on his shoulders in a long trenchcoat at one point. The best part is that the sex scenes flowed seamlessly throughout the story. One minor criticism from Jane’s perspective is that the movie started with two huge sex scenes (Rocco & Kaylani and Xander & Nicole). The first of these two scenes just felt awkward and didn’t do that much for us. There was just something off about the scene that we couldn’t put our fingers on. It turns out that it was supposed to be awkward given the story, but there was no way for us to know that before the scene started rolling; it just looked and felt like a badly performed sex scene (with all due respect to Rocco & Kaylani). In this case, I don’t think the structure of the editing of the piece lent them justice to the real nuances of their performances. With Xander and Nicole, we were allowed just enough dialogue (maybe 10-15 lines) to put the sex scene in context and then we were treated to one of the hottest scenes we’d seen in a long time. Xander and Nicole just clicked. Jane and I have already been following Xander’s career with a lot of interest. Not only is he an amazing adult performer, he is also a truly fine actor. He has played in a number of very complex character and straight roles and in every movie, he’s bringing a new, fresh approach to each character. He has a charm and ease on camera that is intoxicating (at least for Jane). I believe this was our first introduction to Nicole Aniston. I’m going to be watching her career with a lot more interest. She is also a fine actress as well as being incredibly beautiful and a truly amazing adult performer.

The movie is filled with great little comic bits of Xander’s character being placed in awkward situations in his “gay” persona while on a date with Kaylani. And, Xander switches between being “himself” and his “gay persona” with amazing agility. Unfortunately, the one person who I think is wasted in this movie is Barrett Blade. Normally, we are big fans of Barrett’s work, but his character seemed to be a poorly placed afterthought in this story. He has two sex scenes in the movie (one with the beautiful April O’Neil), but both of these scenes fell a little flat for us mostly because we spent all of our time wondering why his character was in the movie in the first place. For example, Barrett’s scene with April takes place at a day spa. Kaylani and Xander’s characters have gone there for a treat together. Barrett winds up banging the receptionist. Now, as a man, I can fully appreciate the fantasy of walking into a place of business where there is a hot receptionist and wanting to take her in the back and bang the shit out of her. However, it’s fantasy. And, honestly, it didn’t really fit into the grand scheme of this Wicked Passions release. Passions, at least to us, is supposed to be about creating a movie in which every scene is for couples. Putting a scene that is very “guy-centric” into a couples movie seems to defeat the purpose. In our case, it did. We were really looking forward to seeing April’s work only to have the experience dampened by the fact that the scene really didn’t make sense in the story.

I know that this is a fine line to walk in the porn industry. Target demographics are so specialized now. But, thankfully, there are more and more couples that are looking to porn as a tool that they can use in their bedrooms to help spice up their private lives and you have to stay true to that audience. Their tastes are going to be a lot more…well…delicate than your average porn consumer. Let me be clear, I don’t think that this pushed any boundaries or crossed any lines and it certainly wasn’t “controversial” in any way. I hope that this openness and Sex Positive ideal can continue to grow and producing porn that is geared toward couples is one way of doing that.

The Final Analysis: This is definitely a movie that should be seen. There are some amazing performances in it and, as I said, one of the hottest sex scenes we’ve seen in a while. Buy it or go to Wicked.com and sign up for your membership and watch it!

The Plot: Jessica (drake) is totally in love and she’s ready for her boyfriend to pop the question.  He’s even got a big dinner planned and everything.  Everything goes wrong, however, when instead of popping the question, he dumps her at the table.  She is distraught and turns to her best friends and co-worker Tom (Slater) for support.  She gets much more in return.  They agree that relationships are just too much trouble and that they should just be friends with benefits.  It turns out to be a pretty good arrangement for a while, but how will their friendship survive their new arrangement?

The Low Down: This movie is good, but it has some serious flaws that really kept us from connecting.  First of all, it was difficult to tell whether the movie wanted to be taken seriously or not.  It literally took us a few scenes into the movie to decide that it was okay to giggle along with this movie and laugh at some of the situations without feeling guilty for doing so.  drake plays her character nearly perfectly.  In fact–and this is going to sound contradictory–she played the part so well it almost turned me off to the entire movie.  Jessica (the character) is a borderline bitch in this movie.  In fact, I found myself asking several times why this guy should marry her?  If there’s one thing that Jane and I have learned it’s that you don’t use sex as a weapon or a bargaining chip in a relationship.  It kind of pissed me off, but jessica (the actress) is so hot, I quickly got over it.  The rest of the cast surrounding drake and Slater are top notch and fill in their roles perfectly.  Barrett Blade is hilarious.  This movie must be seen just to see his performance.  Seriously.

The DVD is unfortunately lacking in bonus features.  There’s only one bonus scene and it’s with Rocco and jessica from Office Encounters.  I hate to say it, but with the exception of the location and the wardrobe, it’s almost exactly the same scene as the one from the opening of this movie.  It follows roughly the same routine and formula.  The rest of the features are standard fare:  photo galleries and links to adult sites and telephone sex lines (does anyone ever call these?)

The Final Analysis: If you are looking for a good date movie, I think you could do a little bit better than this one, but it will do in a pinch.  It’s cute and worth the rental.

The Plot:  Having a co-ed roommate can be difficult, but it can be even more difficult when you are in love with her.  This is Mick’s Big Problem.  The thing is, he’s found a way to win her over.  All he has to do is dress up like a girl in order to take part in Kayden’s “girl’s day” to get to know her better.  He and his friend Scott find out that there’s a lot more than just girl talk that goes on on these days.

The Low Down:  Jane had a much easier time getting into this one.  There was a plot that went a long with it.  Kross delivers a tour de force performance here.  Both her opening and closing scenes are smoking hot.  The final scene is the one that really did the trick for Jane and I.  The surprising performance in this movie is Mick Blue.  He created a sympathetic performance that managed to create sexual tension in a movie that is filled with sex.  This is no small feat.  He’s just such a nice, sweet guy that you want to see him win the girl in the end.  And boy does he.

This release is a DVD/Blu-ray Combo.  We watched the movie on the Blu-ray and it looked absolutely amazing.  The picture quality is everything you’d expect it to be.  Porn never looked so good.  The sad thing is that the only real special feature is a behind-the-scenes featurette.  It’s decent as far as they go, but it’s not stellar.  There are some interviews with the stars and it’s fun to see them clowning around on the set, but that’s about it.  There is a a photo gallery on the disc and a slide show – each of which appear to contain the same pictures, it’s just that you can control the pace which you flow through the gallery, but the slide show just plays through.  That’s the difference, but they are listed as two different items in the special features menu.

The Final Analysis:  This one’s worth seeing for the opening and closing scenes with Kayden Kross, and even though, it bordered on being a little on the rough side for Jane and I, we recommend it as a keeper.

The Plot:  Well…that’s the thing.  There’s not really a plot with this one.  It’s more of an overarching theme that works its way through the scenes on this disc. The theme is punishment.  As the back of the Blu-ray case says, these girls have “been naughty and need to be punished.”

The Low Down:  So, this is the review where Jane and I began to learn what our tolerance limits are with regards to porn.  We aren’t really that into BDSM.  We pride ourselves on having a very even-tempered relationship and enjoy not putting ourselves in a position where one is “in control” over the other.  It just doesn’t work for us.

That having been said, this title was not on our list of favorites.  Some of the scenes are pretty hot, but there was almost always something that just pulled us out of the mood with this one and it usually had to do with the men dominating the women.  As I said, it’s just not something that we get into. The other problem – for us, at least – is the lack of plot.  In order for this movie to work for us as a couple, Jane needs to be able to connect with the characters in the story.  With this release, there is no story.  It’s most definitely porn shot specifically for men. As such, let me just say that Jesse Jane is amazing.  She is sexy as hell and has tits that make me just want to crawl between them and spend a few hours.  I could watch her fuck for hours.  Jane isn’t quite sold on Jesse just yet.  I think she’s going to have to see her in a movie with a plot before she makes up her mind.

With regards to the production quality, I can say that we were very impressed.  First of all, it’s our first Blu-ray porn.  This movie was shot in full HD and it looks amazing.  It’s obvious that Digital Playground places a lot of emphasis on production quality.

The Final Analysis:  When looking for movies to watch as a couple, take a pass on this one.  However, guys, if you are looking for something to just watch for yourself, it’s not a bad way to go.

The Plot: Well…this one’s a little tricky. There’s really not a plot to this movie. Instead, it’s a collection of scenarios. All of them follow the same overall format, but each one focuses on a different fantasy situation.

The Low Down: Wicked is making their first foray into the world of purely couples erotica and they made a very strong opening statement. These scenes are very hot indeed and there is a definite shift in the way this erotica is presented. Make no mistake: this is very bit as erotic as any of the other “classic” porn that you’ve seen. The difference is the approach to each scene. In a nutshell, they slowed down and took their time and allowed each scene to develop at it’s own pace and didn’t rush right into the fucking.

And this is what is going to make all the difference. For women like Jane who want to enjoy porn, but are actually turned off by some of the scenarios presented in a more “traditional” erotic movie. This new line from Wicked has the promise to really open up the world of pornography to a more diverse, less gender-specific audience. And Wicked is the perfect company to make this quantum leap forward. These scenes are everything that you’ve come to expect from Wicked. All of the scenes are really hot and tell enough of an individual story to satiate the needs of most women and explicit enough to satisfy the simplest needs of most men. Evan Stone wins Jane’s prestigious How to Please a Woman Award in this movie. His scene with Samantha Ryan is the one that really worked for Jane. I actually need to thank Evan and Samantha personally because it was their scene that got me laid on the night we watched this DVD. Coming in a close second, though is the very opening scene with Carolyn Reese and Ryan Driller. This scene was a nice choice to start out the entire line. It developed at precisely the right pace for Jane and both of these actors really sold their passion for each other in the scene. With both of these scenes in particular, there was real chemistry between the two actors. This is something that we’ve come to expect from Wicked and it is certainly what Jane is looking for in a movie. If the fucking is just for the sake of fucking, Jane’s not going to be into it and therefore I’m not going to get into Jane that night.

So why only 4 stars from each of us? First of all, there wasn’t a story with a through line. Jane enjoys getting to know the characters before she gets to the know the characters better. It also helps Jane – and most women, I think – to understand the why the sex is happening. It’s not enough for two or more people to just look at each other lustfully and strip, there’s got to be an explanation of how these people got here. Without a real story to connect everything, it was more difficult to make that connection for Jane. Skye Blue wrote an amazing script, though. There was just enough voiceover dialogue at the beginning of each scene to set the scenario and let it flow. The downside to this is that there has to be some kind of transition between the scenes and, quite honestly, we found these to be a little on the cheesy side. They tried just a bit too hard to make these transitions “passionate”.

The DVD is fairly sparce when compared to some of the other Wicked releases. There is a promotional video for the rest of the line which increased our interest in the promise of this line. There’s also a really nice behind-the-scenes feature that takes a fun look at what when into the making of the movie. By the way, we hereby award the Trooper of the Decade Award to Tommy Gunn who was asked to perform in a really hot sex scene after walking backwards into a pool on a very cool and windy evening. Seriously. Watching him shiver uncontrollably in the pool made my balls shrivel up in sympathy. A ton of respect I earned for this man.

The Final Analysis: Couples should own this DVD. It’s a really strong start to what could be a great new line!

The Plot:  Adrianne Stone (Daniels) wakes up one morning to find herself passed out behind someone else’s toilet.  Thanks to a long night out of drinking, she missed her wake-up call and was late for work.  Again.  She’s the weather girl on a local morning newscast.  As a result of this one particular night out, she loses her job.  To make matters worse, her boyfriend breaks up with her.  Her roommate decides to take matters into her own hands and finds Adrianne some guys to date.  This doesn’t work out, but it lead to something completely unexpected.

The Low Down:  This movie is an absolute riot.  It’s Stormy at her best:  comedy.  She displays not only her comic timing as an actress, but also as a director.  She effortlessly steers this ship from gag to gag.  And, in true Stormy fashion, the story flows smoothly into each sex scene and each scene is justified by the story.  Unfortunately, the sex scenes are just not that strong (with the exception of Stormy’s scene at the end).  By our standards, each scene just left us feeling like we wanted more believability in the performances.  In our case, when Jane doesn’t believe that the woman is really enjoying the sex on screen, it’s a turn off and most of the scenes in this movie didn’t hit the mark.

The DVD itself is also lacking.  There’s only one real bonus feature in the form of a bonus sex scene with Stormy Daniels (which, in the spirit of full disclosure, was from a film that we had just recently reviewed).  There is the usual photo gallery and trailers for this film and several other Wicked releases.  Again, I think that every film that is released to DVD should have a gag reel.  This, at least Jane and I have found, is even better when it comes to porn.  It’s great to see all of these amazingly beautiful people who look really hot in the movie having sex go through some of the same bloopers that happen to us in the bedroom.  Quite honestly, it takes away the feeling of a need to “perform” ourselves.  And any behind-the-scenes stuff is fantastic with Stormy’s films.  We really missed that with this DVD.

Final Analysis:  This is a great rental for a couple looking for some light-hearted erotic fun on a date night.
